High quality and productive varieties are the most important basis for profitable agricultural plant production. During the last decades, the significance of seeds has increased considerably - they have become more and more the most important and most reasonably priced working capital. By its extensive thorough research and development and its widely spread seed production, SAATBAU LINZ guarantees a sure and flexible supply of seeds.

SAATBAU LINZ is the largest co-operative for plant breeding and seed production in Austria. 3000 Austrian farmers are members and owners of the Upper Austrian seed cooperative SAATBAU LINZ. Most of them also produce and multiply the seed for the company.

Professionalism and a sense of responsibility are essential in seed production. The members of SAATBAU LINZ are distinguished by both. Since the foundation of the cooperative, seed production has been in reliable hands. Every year more than 130 varieties of approximately 30 cultures are multiplied in selected climatic regions of Austria and the adjacent countries. In this way, the seed supply is optimally secured. The three factors purity, healthiness and germination must be maximally fulfilled. Seed quality does not tolerate compromises. On an acreage of approximately 13.000 hectares both conventional seeds as well as organic seeds and hybrid maize are multiplied and supplied to the seed centers of SAATBAU LINZ.

Modern, high efficient plants for seed treatment are necessary for highest seed quality and prompt seed supply. In the seed centers of our company in Linz, Neuhof in Burgenland and Geinberg, annually approx. 50.000 tons of seeds are taken over, stored, cleaned, treated and prepared for certification.
