The seed has grown

1945

Five regional seed co-operatives were founded in Upper Austria: Arnreit, Freistadt (Mühlviertel), Linz, Wels (Traunviertel), Otterbach (Innviertel)

Foundation of the breeding station for potatoes in Anzberg as well as the breeding station for cereals and fodder plants on the Landesgut Otterbach (both district Schärding) by the Land Upper Austria
 

1948

Move of the breeding station for cereal and fodder plants to Reichersberg
 

1950

The five individual co-operatives mentioned above merged to form the company Saatbau Linz with headquarters in Linz and four seed processing plants with seed reception and processing facilities
 

1954

Beginning with the construction of a central seed warehouse for potatoes in Kefermarkt
 

1959

Acquisition of the Lamplmairgut (38 ha) in Neumarkt i. M. as new location for potato breeding
 

1961

New building of the headquarters in Linz-Wegscheid – silo with a capacity of 2.500 t – seed processing plant, office buildings
 

1972

Beginning with a hybrid maize production in Feldkirchen a. d. Donau, together with the construction of a drying and a seed production plant
 

1978

Beginning with an own hybrid maize breeding programme in Upper Austria
 

1979

Building of a tower silo in Linz-Wegscheid with a capacity of 2.500 t
 

1980

Extension of the maize breeding station in Schönering
 

1984

Extension of the seed processing machines in Kefermarkt including a silo with a capacity of 2.250 to
 

1987/88

Further extension of the warehouse in the headquarters in Linz-Wegscheid (Container drying plant for maize, seeds, leguminosae, silo with a capacity of 10.800 t and seed reception) and foundation of a high-power seed processing plant
 

1989

Foundation of the trial station Weikendorf in Marchfeld (Lower Austria)
 

1990

Acquisition of the cereal breeding material and the seed plant from the "Landwirtschaftsbetrieb Neuhof-Rohrau"
 

1991

Takeover of Burgenland Pflanzenzucht GmbH; joining company IG-Pflanzenzucht GmbH, Munich, as partner
 

1992

New building of the plant breeding station in Reichersberg with modern rooms for offices, laboratories and seed processing
 

1995

Takeover of the OÖ Kräuterbaugenossenschaft and entry into the branch Herbs & Spices
 

1997

Foundation of SAATBAU LINZ CESKA REPUBLIKA, with headquarters in Budweis, Czech Republic

Foundation of SAATBAU LINZ SLOVENSKO, with headquarters in Trnava, Slovakia
 

1998

Foundation of HUNGAROSEED Kft. with headquarters in Sopron, Hungary, and acquisition of a seed plant in Sopron
 

2000

Foundation of SAATZUCHT DONAU Ges.m.b.H.&CoKG, a daughter company belonging to "Probstdorfer Saatzucht" and "Saatbau Linz".
 

2001

Foundation of a high-power seed processing plant in Linz and foundation of a cleaning and seed processing plant for spices in Kefermarkt.
 

2002

Foundation of SAATBAU LINZ HUNGARY Kft. in Hungary.
 

2004

Building of a tower silo with a capacity of 5.600 t for baking-quality seeds, granular spices, biological seeds and products for contract cultivation at Neuhof.
 

2006

New building of the seed processing plant "Innviertel" in Geinberg with seed reception and processing facilities for cereals as well as baking-quality seeds and with a silo capacity of
2.400 t.
Building of a warehouse in Kefermarkt.
 

2008

New building of the "IPC" - Inbred lines production center in Schönering.
 

2009

Acquisition of 85% of the shares of the seed company “Centrala Nasienna” in Środa Śląska, Poland.
 

2010

Extension of the warehouse of the seed processing plant "Innviertel" in Geinberg.
