The aim of the department R & D is the development of varieties with high yield and good disease resistance for guaranteeing the quality that is required on the market.

For this reason our subsidiary SAATZUCHT DONAU realizes own breeding programs for:

• winter wheat

• durum wheat

• winter barley

• spring barley

• soybean

• winter rape

Different varieties of other crops such as triticale, rye, oat, pea, sunflower and red clover are thouroghly screened and adapted.

In Maizebreeding Station Schönering breeding takes place for:

• grain maize

• silage maize

The developed varieties are marketed in Austria and through the export department in Europe and North America.
 

Screening for the Austrian market:

SAATBAU LINZ realizes also an intensive testing of varieties of business partners in the crops on which we work in our own breeding network. Other important crops which come under cereals, oil crops, protein plants and fodder and green manure plants are also tested for developing varieties that are best adapted for the Austrian agriculture.
